120-minute black-and-white film Goodbye Tehran [khoda hafez
tehran] starring Behrouz Vossoughi based on a screenplay by Samouel
Khachikian with cinematography by Nosratollah Kani. The film was
produced by Studio Moulin Rouge. Plot summary: The story takes place
in 1945-1946 during the Iran-Azerbaijan crisis. Azar [Pouri Baneai]
loved her young boss Behruz [Behruz Vossoughi] but she was a blind
maid working for an aristocratic family and never revealed her
feelings. She gave up hope when Behruz returned from Europe with his
European fiancee. She told herself a blind girl has no right to fall
in love. Her consolation was that Tehran is a city of poetry that
always rises above depression. She became a nurse and gave her heart
to it. One day she saw Behruz while caring for soldiers on the front
lines. He had been injured in the fighting and did not recognize her.
By this time she had recovered her sight with treatment at Pahlavi
University's Saadi Hospital, changed her name to Mitra and taken on a
new personality. Behruz's European fiancee had left Iran and he was
free to form a relationship with Mitra.
