promote the 1954 Henry Barakat film It Happened One Night
[hadasa zata laila] starring Hoda Soltan based on a screenplay by
Henry Barakat with story and dialogue by Fathy Abol-Fadl and
cinematography by Klelio. The film was produced by Kamel Abdullah
Hamuda's Arabic Films Company and distributed by Montekhabat Behna.
Plot summary: A poor girl married a rich boy despite opposition from
the boy's father. She lived happily with her husband until she fell
into the clutches of a young hustler who told her her husband had
injured him in an accident. Her husband found out about him holding
her and divorced her without understanding that his wife was innocent,
then went abroad. The wife took revenge against the hustler who had
ruined her life by killing him. Then when she tried to commit suicide
her young attorney saved her and defended her in court, where he
successfully reduced her sentence. He promised to marry her after her
release from prison.
