This is a 13" x 30" Australian daybill poster for the 1941 Irving
Cummings musical That Night in Rio based on the 1934 Hans Adler
and Rudolf Lothar play The Red Cat, screenplay by George
Seaton, Bess Meredyth and Hal Long and starring Carmen Miranda as
Carmen. Plot summary: Larry Martin [Don Ameche] has an act at a
casino in Rio de Janeiro in which he impersonates Baron Manuel Duarte
[also Don Ameche]. The real baron learns the airline he owns is in
financial trouble because of a scheme by his rival Machado [J. Carrol
Naish]. Larry is later hired to impersonate the baron outside his act
to confuse Machado; this has unexpected complications. The songs in
the film are all originals written by Harry Warren and Mack Gordon.
