This is a 27" x 39" Egyptian one-sheet poster loosely modeled after
art by Dan Gouzee and printed by Hassan Mazhar Gasour's Arabic Cinema
Printers Company in Cairo to promote the 1979 Lewis Gilbert
film Moonraker based on a novel by Ian Fleming, screenplay
by Christopher Wood and starring Roger Moore as James Bond. The Arabic
translation at the top of the poster says the title of the film
is Satan Challenges the Mighty Men [al-shaytan yethada
al-gababera], without reference to the Moon. In Egypt at least, James
Bond films must have been seen as a guilty pleasure! Plot summary: Bond
is sent into space to discover who is behind a space hijacking. He
must deal with Hugo Drax, [Michael Lonsdale] the head of the company
that created the hijacked spaceship, and the infamous metal-toothed
character named Jaws [Richard Kiel]. He is assisted on the mission by
Dr. Holly Goodhead [Lois Chiles].
