for musical production in 1938 by Lerner and Lowe, book and screenplay
by Alan Jay Lerner and starring Audrey Hepburn as Eliza Doolittle.
Plot summary: Phonetics professor Henry Higgins [Rex Harrison] takes
on the task of teaching proper English and making presentable to
society cockney flower seller Eliza Doolittle. Eliza turns out to be
a good student who is soon able to pass as a person with royal blood.
After a dispute with Higgins, Eliza tries unsuccessfully to return to
her old life but finds she is now a misfit there. Higgins now wants
her back! According to boxofficemojo.com, Mami Nixon dubbed Hepburn's
voice in all her songs except the first one, Just You Wait.
