AKA The Hideaways based on the novel From the Mixed-up Files
of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E.L. Konigsburg with screenplay by
Blanche Hanalis and starring Ingrid Bergman as Mrs. Basil
E. Frankweiler. Plot summary: Claudia [Sally Prager] is a young
teenager who decides to run away from home and takes her younger
brother Jamie [Johnny Doran] with her. The two take a train to New
York City and go the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where they spend a
few nights in exhibition beds hiding from the guards. Claudia finds a
carved statue of an angel she believes was the work of Michelangelo.
She decides to find the original owner of the statue, who turns out to
be Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler [Ingrid Bergman]. Mrs. Frankweiler
promises to leave proof Michalangelo made the statue to the children
in her will if they tell her about their adventure.
