This is a 27" x 41" Realart US one-sheet poster made to promote a
rerelease of the 1943 Ray Taylor film The Lone Star Trail based
on a story by Victor Halperin, screenplay by the film's associate
producer Oliver Drake and starring Johnny Mack Brown as Blaze Barker.
Plot summary: In the town of Dead Falls Rancher Blaze Barker, an
honest man and a real Saturday afternoon silver screen cowboy, is
beset by the ruthless outlaws of the old West. In the valley where he
lives a dam is about to be constructed, and a criminal gang is out to
take control of all the land there before construction begins using a
taxation and foreclosure scheme. The gang frames Blaze. They falsely
testify against him in a robbery trial and he is put in state prison
for two years. After his release on parole he must raise money to pay
his property taxes by selling cattle, but when he does so he finds the
money has been marked, again to frame him. Fortunately Blaze has the
help and support of US Marshal Fargo Steele [Tex Ritter], who has been
assigned as his parole officer. Robert Mitchum, credited as Bob
Mitchum, appears here as Ben Slocum, saloon owner and one of the
outlaw ringleaders. Tex Ritter and the Jimmy Wakely Trio highlight
the story with the right kinds of cowboy songs, whistling and
yodeling.
