This is an original folded Egyptian 27" x 39" one-sheet movie poster
designed by Wahib Fahmy and Mohammad Abdel Aziz for the 1974 Houssam
El-Din Mustafa film The Bullet Is Still in My Pocket based on
story, screenplay and dialogue by Ihsan Abd al-Qudus and starring
Mahmoud Yassine as Mohammad. In his 1998 Al-Ahram article "Victory at
the Box Office" Hani Mustafa lists it as one of several dealing with
the 1973 war that depict Egyptian society in crisis. This one follows
the soldier Mohammad (Mahmoud Yassine) as he returns to his village in
defeat after the 1967 war, where he is met with contempt and derision.
His cousin Fatima, (Nagwa Ibrahim) the girl he loves, has been raped
by high official Abbas (Youssef Chaban); Mohammad decides to avenge
her by killing Abbas, but fortunately he finds an outlet for his
frustration when the 1973 war breaks out. The film has glorified
reenactments of various facets of the Egyptian Suez crossing but it
completely omits the Israeli counterattack on the Egyptian side of the
canal. This time when Mohammad returns to his village he is welcomed
as a hero by his fellow citizens and Abbas is exposed as a rapist.
Mohammad marries Fatima with the bullet still in his pocket.
