This is a 13" x 27.5" Italian locandina for the 1955 Juan Antonio Bardem film Death of a Cyclist based on a story by Luis Fernando de Igoa and starring Lucia Bosé as María José de Castro. Plot summary: An established academic and his wealthy socialite mistress strike and kill a cyclist while driving on an isolated rural road. They leave him to die because they are afraid of public exposure. This film was considered a landmark in Spain under the rule of dictator General Francisco Franco because of the powerful impact of its depiction of the sharp division between rich and poor.
