This is a 23" x 33" Russian export poster designed by Vladimir
Gavrilovich Konovar for the 1960 Mikhail Shvejtser
film Resurrection AKA Voskreseniye based on the 1899 Leo
Tolstoy novel of the same title, screenplay by Yevgeni Gabrilovich and
Mikhail Shvejtser and starring Tamara Syomina as Katyusha. Plot
summary: Katyusha is a country girl who is seduced and then abandoned
by Prince Nekludov [Evgeniy Matveev]. Nekludov serves on a jury years
later in Katyusha's trial for a crime he knows he caused her to
commit. He follows her to prison in Siberia seeking redemption for
both of them.
