This is a 26.5" x 39" Iranian poster designed by Bateni for the 1987
Ahmad Nakazar film Resistance written by Mojtaba Motevali and
Hamid Safayi and starring Hadi Eslami. Plot summary: At the beginning
of the Iran-Iraq war a group of volunteers was about to go to Abadan
to help break the Iraqi seige. The main roads to the city were in
Iraqi hands and Iraqi fighter jets were bombing the city and its
surrounding positions to stop reinforcements. The commanding officer
considered it impossible to move volunteers to Abadan and told them to
wait for instructions. After waiting five days the group decided to
go to Abadan at any price; based on a recommendation by one of the
volunteers they decided to make the trip by sea. Captain Zubeir was
the only person available to provide behind the lines support by sea
but his launch did not have the capacity to carry 20 war volunteers
with supplies and ammunition. On the recommendation of Akbar, the
head of the volunteer group, a ramshackle towed device was attached to
the launch as a means of transport, but seven of its occupants were
detached from the launch and disappeared in the sea when the rope was
broken. On the other hand when the launch motor stopped working they
were unable to look for them. The presence of sharks, storms, thirst
and the enemy combat zone threatened them all. With much effort they
finally got the launch going again and found the missing volunteers.
