This is a 27.5" x 38.75" Iranian poster designed by Manouchehr
Abdollahzadeh for the 1989 film Bashu, the Little Stranger
written and directed by Bahram Bayzai and starring Susan Taslimi as
Naii. Plot summary: During the Iran-Iraq war in the southern part of
Iran a boy named Bashu [Adnan Afravian] loses his home and family to a
bombing. He sneaks into the back of a truck and goes to sleep. When
he wakes up the truck is much further north in a place where
demolition is being used for road clearing. He runs away from the
explosions and eventually finds himself at a farm being worked by
Naii, whose husband is away. Naii gives Bashu food and water, but she
finds they do not speak the same language. Naii is kind to Bashu and
he tries to reciprocate by helping her. When Naii's husband [Parviz
Poorhosseini] comes home he does not like having Bashu in the house.
Bashu senses this and runs away; Naii finds sleeping in an outbuilding
during a storm and brings him back.
