This is a 27" x 39" Iranian poster designed by Heddat to promote the
1983 film The Rifleman written and directed by Jamshid Heydari
and starring Mehdi Fakhimzadeh as Seyyed Morad. Plot summary: Late in
the time of the Qajar Dynasty the people in the towns and villages in
the northern and southern parts of the country were under pressure to
secure provisions for the foreign power. In one of the northern
villages someone named Elahyar resisted and was arrested by the
Cossacks. Seyyed Morad tried to save Elahyar by organizing an attack
on the Cossack wagon that was carrying him to town to be hanged, but
Elahyar was shot and fatally wounded by his captors during the
attack. Seyyed Morad's remarks about the godlessness of the Cossacks
led some groups of villagers to go public with their opposition. The
Cossack commanders saw Seyyed Morad as the leader of the rebellion and
ordered his arrest but the people fought the Cossacks and won.
