This is a 23" x 38.75" Iranian poster designed by Bateni for the 1988
Khosro Masumi film Doran-e Sorbi starring Siamak Atlassi. Plot
summary: John Barar meets his family's expenses by procuring and
selling rock coal. He takes the coal to town on a horse he rents from
his uncle. His wife Gohar is pregnant and needs to have a cesarean
section done. He leaves his son Ismail in the village to look after
their house and their cows and takes his wife into town at night in a
buggy. He also sells his horse to meet the costs of his wife's
operation but while Ismail is in class in the village a bear kills his
cow. He is jailed when he goes back to the village because of a
complaint from his cousin, but is released with intervention from the
mayor on condition he repay his debt in installments. John is not
able to meet his household expenses alone so he takes Ismail out of
school to help him with his work. However after he realizes the
market for rock coal is not doing well he sends Ismail back to school
and goes to town looking for work as a seasonal laborer.
