This is a 23" x 38.75" Iranian poster designed by Bateni for the 1988 Khosro Masumi film Doran-e Sorbi starring Siamak Atlassi. Plot summary: John Barar meets his family's expenses by procuring and selling rock coal. He takes the coal to town on a horse he rents from his uncle. His wife Gohar is pregnant and needs to have a cesarean section done. He leaves his son Ismail in the village to look after their house and their cows and takes his wife into town at night in a buggy. He also sells his horse to meet the costs of his wife's operation but while Ismail is in class in the village a bear kills his cow. He is jailed when he goes back to the village because of a complaint from his cousin, but is released with intervention from the mayor on condition he repay his debt in installments. John is not able to meet his household expenses alone so he takes Ismail out of school to help him with his work. However after he realizes the market for rock coal is not doing well he sends Ismail back to school and goes to town looking for work as a seasonal laborer.
