This is a 24" x 33.5" Polish poster designed by Jerzy Treutler to promote the 1938 Marcel Carne 95-minute black-and-white French film Hotel du Nord starring Annabella, based on a novel by Eugene Dabit adapted for film by Jean Aurenche. The film tells the story of a suicide pact between a man and a woman at the hotel, which didn't work out. The man shot the woman with a pistol. He was supposed to shoot himself after that but changed his mind and ran away. The woman didn't die either, and after she recovered in a hospital she was still in love with her suicide conspirator. They eventually got back together and circumstances improved for them.
