This is a 27" x 39" Egyptian one-sheet poster designed by Ahmed Fouad
for the 1970 Burgess Meredith film The Third Eye AKA The Yin
and the Yang of Mr. Go based on a story by Joseph Zucchero and Alvin
Ostroff, screenplay by Burgess Meredith and starring James Mason as
Y.Y. Go. I get a lot of ideas what films to watch from these old
Egyptian posters. This film can still be had on DVD at very cheap
prices because it seems to be considered virtually worthless by the
people who have it for sale. There are some interesting things. It was
the acting debut for Jeff Bridges and the first and only directing
attempt by Burgess Meredith. The combination of extreme badness in
plot, music and direction plus an outstanding cast (also including
Broderick Crawford and James Mason) inspired over 20 people to write
reviews of it on IMDB. Plot summary: there is a living Buddha out
there somewhere (the Buddha is also the film's narrator) who decides
to enlighten the evil Mr. Go [James Mason] with a beam of light from
his belly. This benevolent act is something the Buddha is able to do
once every 50 years in the 5th month. Once this has been done, the
evil Mr. Go is filled with the virtues of enlightenment and decides
to make available to suffering humanity a miracle laser beam that
neutralizes all nuclear weapons and makes nuclear war impossible! The
poster was printed by Anwar printers.
This film is best known by the title The Yin and the Yang of Mr. Go, but the title on the poster is The Third Eye.
