This is a promotional film poster designed by Gasour for an Egyptian
version of My Fair Lady, a 1968 Helmy Halim 105-minute
black-and-white film called Days of Love [ayam al-hob] based on
the 1913 George Bernard Shaw play Pygmalion with screenplay and
story by Helmy Halim, dialogue by Mohamed Abou-Seif and cinematography
by Wahid Farid. Plot summary: Sherif Lutfi [Ahmed Mazhar] was a film
director looking for someone new to play the starring role in a film
about a famous actress. Not finding the right actress, he persuaded
Eshta, [Nadia Lutfi] an attractive woman he happened to meet during a
trip to Alexandria, to take up acting in the cinema. After long
hesitation she agreed and with lessons in diction, posture and table
manners he made an aristocratic girl of her. After much effort she
learned to play the role and their first film was a great success.
She then rebelled against him and he tried to break her down with his
egoism; he promoted her personality and the fact that he was the one
who had made her. He later regretted this and asked her to forgive
him. She did so and they were married.
