[Zizi El-Badrawy] was an attractive country girl. Two of the young men
in the village had their hearts set on her. One was Reshwan the
mayor's son and the other was Hamed, [Salah Kabil] an ambitious poor
man. Hamed asked Safia's father if he could court her but the father
wanted an appropriate husband for his daughter. He agreed to allow his
daughter to associate with the son of the mayor and promise to marry
him, but Reshwan suddenly changed his mind and tried to get close to
Saadia, Hamed's sister. He attacked her but to save her the thief
Ahmed, [Mahmoud El-Meliguy] who happened to be in the house at that
very moment, intervened to save her and killed Reshwan in a fight. He
fled and Hamed was accused of the murder and sentenced to death in
court. Saadia learned the story from her brother. She looked for the
thief, wooed him to save her brother, then extracted a confession from
him. Ahmed was released and then married Safia.
