This is an original 14" x 20.5" Belgian hand litho poster for the 1957
Ingmar Bergman film Wild Strawberries
AKA Smultronstallet written by Ingmar Bergman and starring
Victor Sjostrom as Professor Isak Borg. Plot summary: During a road
trip from Stockholm to Lund in his 1937 black Packard limousine,
78-year-old Dr. Isak Borg does an introspective review of his troubled
past as it passes before him in vivid dreams. He travels with his
pregnant daughter-in-law Marianne [Ingrid Thulin], the wife of his
only son Evald [Gunnar Bjornstrand], who objects to her pregnancy.
The two also meet hitchhikers who cause Borg to have more visions of
his troubled past, deeply marred by the way others have seen him and
his cold and selfish personality. By the time Borg reaches Lund and
receives the award for which the trip has been made, he gets closure
and is finally at peace with himself.
