Sway

by Pablo Beltran Ruiz and Norman Gimble

When marimba rhythms start to play

Dance with me, make me sway

Like a lazy ocean hugs the shore

Hold me close, sway me more

Like a flower bending in the breeze

Bend with me, sway with ease

When we dance you have a way with me

Stay with me, sway with me

Other dancers may be on the floor

Dear, but my eyes will see only you

Only you have the magic technique

When we sway I go weak

I can hear the sounds of violins

Long before it begins

Make me thrill as only you know how

Sway me smooth, sway me now

Other dancers may be on the floor

Dear, but my eyes will see only you

Only you have the magic technique

When we sway I go weak

I can hear the sounds of violins

Long before it begins

Make me thrill as only you know how

Sway me smooth, sway me now

You know how

Sway me smooth, sway me now

Naples Trash Crisis

Broadcast 12 January on Iranian state satellite TV (IRINN)

Translation:

Announcer: Demonstrations continue in the city of Naples Italy
about the accumulation of trash.

Correspondent: Following the continuing trash crisis in the city of
Naples Italy hundreds of people living in this city have clashed with
the police for the 6th consecutive night and have set fire to public
transportation vehicles.

In recent clashes between riot police and Naples protestors a
number of people have been injured and taken to the hospital. In this
unrest angry Neopolitians even set fire to a fire truck that was there
to put out the fires.

There are now more than 100 tons of trash piled in the streets of
Naples and its environs and city officials are unable to remove it.
Due to the environmental pollution the students of Naples are not
going to school. To resolve the crisis Italy's Prime Minister Romano
Prodi sent the Italian army to this city to clean the streets, and
especially the putrified trash that accumulated in front of the schools last
week.

A German company is taking some of the trash to Germany to be
burned, at a price of 200 Euros per ton. This crisis has cause some
of the people in this city to take action to clean their city
themselves.

Music Makers 1958 The Clark Sisters

From their 1958 Dot LP "Sing Sing Sing"

by Harry James

Lyrics

Though the man's dead somewhere I read

Shakespeare once said

You folks can have the men who make laws

Give me the music makers

I'd give my vote

Just for one note

Mendelssohn wrote

And letcha have the men who make laws

Give me the music makers

Classic music or low down

I like opera or 8 beat

There's no need for a show down

Critics say there are great beats

So let me repeat

Give me a beat

Rhythmic or sweet

And you can have the men who make laws

Give me the music makers

I may have read it

Or someone said it

That music tames a wild beast

And there are humans who pass for human

Who don't like one two at least

Turkey Cracks Down on Smokers

Broadcast 9 January on Iranian state satellite TV (IRINN)

Announcer Farhadi: The rising statistics on cigarette consumption
and the drop in the ages of smokers to less than 15 have prompted the
Turkish government and Parliament to pass stricter laws for smokers.
Mirbaha reports from Ankara.

Mirbaha: In new legislation the Turkish Parliament has prohibited
smoking in all schools, offices, and centers for health care, trade,
education and recreation, including restaurants and places that employ
more than one person. Based on the latest research more than 20
percent of the students in Turkish schools smoke cigarettes.

Shamseddin Kobrat, who runs a non-government anti-smoking
organization in Ankara says: [Kobrat speaking through an interpreter]
Immature friends, curiosity, recreation and family problems are among
the reasons for taking up smoking in Turkey's young society. Official
statistics indicate that 66 percent of the men and 25 percent of the
women older than 18 in Turkey smoke cigarettes.

After smoking and tobacco use was deregulated in 1984 and with the
infusion of capital into this sector and the expansion of media
advertising, cigarette consumption has gradually increased in Turkey.

In the Turkish Parliament's new legislation there are fines for
officials who do not carry out their responsibilities prohibiting
smoking in public places, and there are also fines for the smokers.

People who throw cigarettes on the ground are also fined.

The Little Brown Jug 1958 The Clark Sisters

From their 1958 Dot LP "Sing Sing
Sing"

Little Brown Jug Lyrics

Me and my wife live all alone

In a little log hut we're all our own;

She loves gin and I love rum,

And don't we have a lot of fun!

Chorus:

Ha, ha, ha, you and me,

Little brown jug, don't I love thee!

Ha, ha, ha, you and me,

Little brown jug, don't I love thee!

When I go toiling on the farm

I take the little jug under my arm;

Place it under a shady tree,

Little brown jug, 'tis you and me. '

'Tis you that makes me friends and foes,

'Tis you that makes me wear old clothes;

But, seeing you're so near my nose,

Tip her up and down she goes.

If all the folks in Adam's race

Were gathered together in one place,

Then I'd prepare to shed a tear (I'd let them go without a tear)

Before I'd part from you, my dear.

If I'd a cow that gave such milk,

I'd dress her in the finest silk;

Feed her up on oats and hay,

And milk her twenty times a day.

I bought a cow from Farmer Jones,

And she was nothing but skin and bones;

I fed her up as fine as silk,

She jumped the fence and strained her milk.

And when I die don't bury me at all,

Just pickle my bones in alcohol;

I'ut a bottle o' booze at my head and feet

And then I know that I will keep.

The rose is red, my nose is too,

The violets blue and so are you;

And yet, I guess, before I stop,

We'd better take another drop.
